' a neo utopia ' - for a future given the circumstances //
' a neo utopia ' - by stonteco sub la cirkonstancoj
The brand 'a neo utopia' emerges trying to relate the Zeitgeist to conceive a possible fashion reality for an ominous future.
DE NATAL AL NUMBÊ - which translates from Esperanto "from Natal to Numbê" - is the first collection developed by the fashion design student - native from Natal and resident in São Paulo - J. ERICO VALENÇA, directing the brand conceived by himself: ' a neo utopia' . The collection seeks to communicate transformations of a post-apocalyptic humanity.
In DE NATAL AL NUMBÊ the future conceived as an apocalypse, in the advent of the denatured exploitation of natural resources.
During the apocalypse, part of humanity is privileged to leave. They left in search of another planet, since the original Earth - Terra Natal - could no longer support human life. Those who left, left also the rest of humanity behind to die.
The planet targeted as New Terra Natal is Képler 186F. It was not expected, however, that this planet would already be inhabited by another civilization, moreover, more developed than the humans. The native civilization shows no interest in receiving tenants.
Képler 186F is called by the natives as "Numbê".
Now, this humanity who had the privilege of leaving Terra Natal, needs to adapt to this new reality of subjection.
The collection mixes references from what would be Terra Natal - which alludes to the city of Natal, birthplace of designer J. ERICO VALENÇA (jambo, cashew, beach, hammock, sand, macramé) - and from Numbê - which alludes to the interpretation that the designer J. ERICO VALENÇA had when he arrived in São Paulo (smoke, industry, monochrome, hardness).
The collection is about the cultural shock which opposes the modularity of Numbê - represented by the native aliens - to the handicrafts of Terra Natal - represented by humanity recently inserted in the new planet.
From the perspective of the study of 3D modeling and moulage, DE NATAL AL NUMBÊ may permeate between reality and meta verse.
' a neo utopia ' proposes not what fashion might look like today, but what it might look like, given the circumstances, in the future.
